Yale University

The Yale chapter of the Society of Physics Students is an undergraduate organization of physics students. We are a member organization of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). The Yale Chapter was founded in January 1998. Our activities center around the professional, the academic and the social. In addition to the biweekly pizza talks, our activities extend to movie nights and picnics on the last day of classes each year. Recently, we have been thinking about starting up a 'Physics On Wheels' program which will conduct physics demonstrations at local high schools.

SPS Talk: Professor Volker Werner, Yale University, "Facets and Evolution of WNSL's Nuclear Structure Program"

Nuclear science in general relies on a solid knowledge of the structure of atomic nuclei. Nuclear structure is intimately related to the field of nuclear astrophysics. While nuclear structure data and theory is essential to gain better understanding of stellar processes and the abundances of elements and isotopes in the universe, astrophysical...
